Jonathan Lynn

"Words with teeth in 'em."

Here's a few clips from a recent video shoot. Yeah, after years of threatening, I have produced a 70min DVD of a recent performance at Hugh's Room called
The Blathering.
First up, 'Folk Hero', a crowd-pleaser from Gene Gray, a friend and neighbour who gave me this piece many years ago when we were much younger/wilder at The Cafe May on Roncesvalles.
Then, an original piece that friends call 'The Nod' but is in fact called
'Using The Head' and was written for and about my Da, Bob Lynn.
Finally, dittys and a song on the theme of sexuality called
'If the Boys Could See Me Now'. 'Nough said!
One last thing to add: Lots of video of my performance at Humph Hall in Sydney is available at

TIP Splinter. My musical career will forever be associated with that great assembly of musicians though I am the first to admit that I had a hard time keeping up with the musical prowess of such as Jamie Snider, Brian Taheny, Kieran Wade etc. My contribution was playing Hammer Dulcimer, Mandola and Clarinet and, together with Jamie and Kieran, providing original songs and tunes to the repertoire of this Irish/Canadian traditional group.
So, here then are a few TIP Splinter cuts of some of my original songs.
1. 'Island Hopping'
From TIP Splinter's Mooncoin album 1988

2. 'Black & Amber Pride'
From TIP Splinter's Mooncoin album 1988 sung by Madeleine O'Loghlin and Henry Geraghty

3. 'Song for the Miramichi'
sung by Madeleine O'Loghlin on TIP Splinter & Friends 1986

And here's a recent composition about a music session in a village pub in Ireland that got out of hand: Letting Loose the Major.
